OST 2581 - Professional Development and Career Success 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisites: Placement at the college level or completion of required developmental courses in reading and writing. AA Elective: No This course provides for the development of soft skills including career preparation, professional networking, interpersonal skills, communication skills, team dynamics, presentation skills, and project management. Students use a variety of educational resources including web-based simulation, presentation software, and case studies. The benefits of mentoring, professional development, self assessment, and team leadership are explored. Additional topics may include: job searches and interviewing, analyzing and choosing job offers, and managing the first year on the job.
