EDF 1005 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Lower-Division College Credit AA Elective: Yes This is a survey course that discusses historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of education; governance and finance of education; educational policies; legal, moral, and ethical issues; and professionalism in teaching. The curriculum provides information regarding the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, Sunshine State Standards, and the Professional Educator Competencies. This course requires students to complete a minimum of 15 hours of field-based experience with children and youth in schools or similar settings. The field experience should not be via virtual modes of interaction such as film or the Internet.
NOTE(S): In order to participate in on-site Polk County School Board assignments, students are required to be fingerprinted at the Polk County School Board Office and undergo a background check at the student’s expense. Search for Open Classes
