The Auxiliary Basic Recruit Training Certificate Program trains applicants for employment or appointment by criminal justice agencies to assist full-time or part-time officers. Students who earn this certificate may work as an auxiliary officer with limited authority and in the company of a certified officer. This program meets the training requirements of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The Auxiliary Basic Recruit Training Program requires enrolling individuals to be physically and mentally strong, fair-minded, and constantly alert. Candidates must submit an application for the program to the Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety office.
