The Business Information Technology Advanced Technical Certificate provides students with the skills to begin a career in Business Intelligence. Students analyze business issues and data challenges and then apply decision-support and business-intelligence solutions for improving work processes for better business decision making. This certificate program provides individuals with the means to analyze problems using logic and analysis tools, translate instruction sets into a computer language, and build and maintain business-intelligence information systems.

Earning a certificate can be the first step toward earning a baccalaureate degree in the field. The credits from this certificate program are applicable toward the Business Information Technology Concentration of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management degree.

Admission Criteria

Admission to this program requires an associate or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited school or college, and at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 point scale. The student must meet the requirements for college-level mathematics, reading, and writing. Any deficiencies must be satisfied prior to admission to the program. If the student’s associate degree is from a non-regionally accredited institution, but one that is accredited by a body that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, a course-by-course evaluation is done according to Polk State College’s transfer practices and policies.
