The Child Care Center Management Certificate consists of coursework in leadership and administrative skills, educational programming, and financial issues associated with managing a quality childcare program. This certificate program provides college-level instruction to prepare students for the managerial and administrative aspects of childcare facilities. Courses from this certificate may be applied toward the Preschool Certificate and the AS in Early Childhood Education and Management degree program.
This program includes coursework toward the completion of the state-approved Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) with the completion of CHD 1380 Facilitating Development, CHD 2320 Early Childhood Curriculum, and CHD 2220 Child Growth and Development. To earn the FCCPC, the student must also complete CHD 1440 Early Learning Practicum. The approved course for the foundation of the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Director’s Credential is CHD 2801 Overview of Child Care Management. After completing this course and obtaining and FCCPC, the student can apply to the DCF to receive the Director Credential. A student who obtains the DCF Director Credential is eligible to apply for a director position at a childcare facility or to function as a director of his or her own childcare facility.
