The Corporate College brings together an extensive curriculum of technological, business, and professional development courses. It is divided into areas of specialization called institutes. Each Institute incorporates the latest developments in technologies and applications that have a major commercial impact. The Corporate College Institutes are committed to making every training opportunity available to the workforce community and provide the most economical, efficient, and effective means of meeting today’s demanding training needs. The Corporate College will conduct classes at a company site, at Polk State College (PSC) campuses, or a location that is convenient for the workforce needs. Classes will be scheduled on days and at times that are flexible to meet the consumer’s needs. Online training opportunities from national providers are also available. Advanced Manufacturing Institute
The Advanced Manufacturing Institute provides manufacturers with access to state-of-the-art advanced equipment, affordable workforce development, and technical training programs all designed and customized to achieve the desired training outcomes in every sector of manufacturing. Its purpose is to continually incorporate the latest developments in technologies and applications, train individuals to those standards, and help Polk and neighboring county industries achieve global competitiveness.
IT/Computer Institute
The IT/Computer Institute offers a broad array of hands-on IT, project management, and professional skills training, featuring proprietary core and custom curriculum, certification programs, and new software application programs. All classes can be customized to fit the customer’s training needs.
Supply Chain Management Institute
The Supply Chain Management Institute (SCMI) was formed to help support the rapidly growing supply chain management industry in Polk County. The SCMI offers courses in Transportation/Logistics and Warehousing/Distribution; these components of supply chain management comprise a significant percentage of Polk County’s economy. Courses are also offered in Applied Technical Skills associated with supply chain management. Students who complete Supply Chain Management Institute courses can ultimately gain certificate training, specialist certification, articulation to college credit, and an A.A.S. degree which benefits the student, local businesses, and the local economy.
Design and Construction Technologies Institute
The Design and Construction Technologies Institute offers non-credit coursework directed towards workforce training for the construction industry (architects, engineers, contractors) in Polk County. Certification and portability of certifications is an area of major focus. We endeavor to offer courses from nationally recognized industry training bodies such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Safety and Homeland Security Institute
The Safety and Homeland Security Institute offers a Contractor Safety Program for all contractors working in Florida’s phosphate and chemical plants. Additionally, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) – New Miner Training is a course for contractors working on mine sites. These training opportunities meet all state and federal guidelines. Offerings are expanding to new business sectors due to the increase in homeland security initiatives.
Performance Process Improvement Institute
The Performance Process Improvement Institute (PPI) is committed to enhancing the performance of public and private organizations throughout Florida. The PPI Institute guides organizations through transforming process improvement programs that result in efficient and cost effective service delivery mechanisms for their internal and external customers. The renowned faculty members in this institute address current trends, teach new skill sets, and lend their expertise to help organizations sustain a competitive advantage.
Green Partners Institute
The Green Partners Institute is open to all industries and the general community. Initially, the Green Partners Institute is offering courses targeting small scale environmental polluters, along with other green courses under the Environmental Sustainability’ theme. This will be followed up with courses in Alternative Energy, Energy Conservation and Green Building-Retrofitting, Green Manufacturing, and Green Farming.
Insurance Institute
The Insurance Institute offers a variety of state licensure and continuing education courses. Programs are offered both in the classroom and online. Courses are designed to help professionals meet Florida’s mandatory requirements and stay current in their areas of licensure. Courses feature the latest rules, regulations, and real life case studies.
Real Estate Institute
The Real Estate Institute provides participants with an understanding of real estate principles, practices, law, appraisal, and investment. Participants taking the courses are primarily seeking to explore possible careers in real estate. The real estate appraisal courses are approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission and Appraisal Foundation Board.
Child Care Institute
The Child Care Institute provides state-mandated training for child care workers in licensed facilities and licensed Family Child Care Homes. |
