Non-Degree Seeking Students

The non-degree seeking student is generally not intending to complete a degree at Polk State College or is taking prerequisites for a degree at Polk State College or another institution. This student attends for a variety of additional reasons, such as to enhance a job skill or for personal enrichment.

Non-degree seeking students complete an application for admission online. They are required to submit official transcripts from previously attended institutions the same as the degree-seeking student. They also are required to take a college placement test if it is a requirement to the course of interest. They do not qualify for an exemption from placement testing and developmental education. Non-degree seeking students must demonstrate that all prerequisites to a course have been met before registration is permitted.

In addition, non-degree seeking students must submit residency documentation to gain in-state tuition.
