The Auxiliary Basic Recruit Training Program trains applicants for employment or appointment by criminal justice agencies to assist or aid full-time or part-time officers. A successful completer of this course may work as an auxiliary officer with limited authority and in the company of a certified officer. This program meets the training requirements of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The Auxiliary Basic Recruit Training Program requires enrolling individuals who are physically and mentally strong, fair-minded, and constantly alert.   Candidates must submit an application for the program to the Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety office.
