This course introduces the experienced healthcare worker to the functional and professional roles of the Registered Nurse through study of the nursing process, assessment of basic needs, and analysis of unmet needs that occur in response to imbalances in homeostasis affecting the biological systems and human dimensions. The clinical focus emphasizes the nurse-patient relationship and mastery of the skills necessary for the care of adult clients with simple medical/surgical problems in the acute care setting.
