ASL 1140 - Basic American Sign Language 4 hours Lecture, 4 credit(s) Lower-Division College Credit This course emphasizes basic sign vocabulary used by the Deaf community and discusses the history and culture of deafness in America. Students study the linguistic structure and visual, conceptual nature of American Sign Language. The development of basic-expressive and receptive conversational Sign Language skills is an important class objective.
