General Education Requirements for Office Administration (17 Credits Required)


This program is designed to prepare students for employment in office management and supervisory positions with emphasis on Medical Administration, Office Administration, and Office Management. Depending on the curriculum option selected, graduates prepare for positions such as Office Managers, Office Administrators, Medical Secretaries, Medical Office Managers, Medical Office Assistants, Medical Transcriptionists, Health Unit Coordinators, and other administrative support positions. The program also prepares students for immediate employment in business offices, educational institutions, not-for-profit organizations, medical offices and clinics, hospitals and other health care organizations. The Office Administration Program provides opportunities both for first-time job seekers and experienced employees who wish to advance in their careers. It provides students with a broad understanding of office administration and management concepts with a strong emphasis on the technological skills necessary to find employment in their chosen area of specialty.

Students scoring below required levels on state-mandated placement tests in English, reading, and mathematics are required to enroll in and complete the appropriate college preparatory course(s) before enrolling in some of the program required courses.

Students who have successfully completed all parts of the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) exam can be awarded 21 credit hours toward the Office Management Administration Program.
