CVT 1220 - Cardiovascular Pharmacology 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisite(s): CVT 1000C AA Elective: No This course provides the pharmacological background necessary to function within the clinical setting of the cardiac catheterization lab. Emphasis is placed on drug classification, routes of administration, modes of action, indications and contraindications, treatments for adverse reactions, normal dosages, and drug effects on patient hemodynamics. Venipuncture is introduced, as well as pre-procedural therapeutic therapies with proper dosing per individual patient protocol. This course provides a study of ECG arrhythmia recognition in relation to medications and intra-procedural complications.
