LAE 3414 - Children’s Literature 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Upper-Division College Credit Prerequisite(s): EDF 3115 and EEX 3294 AA Elective: No This course develops instructional strategies for teaching reading through the use of children’s literature. By identifying high-quality literature and infusing research-based instructional methods, the teacher candidate scaffolds student learning and integrates the six reading components within comprehensive lesson plans. Successful completion of this course requires a grade of C or better. In addition to class meetings, field experience in a K-6 setting is required. Completion of LAE 3414 Children’s Literature and EDG 4376 Integrating Language Arts and Social Sciences satisfies Florida Reading Endorsement (2011) Competency Two (Foundations of Research Based Practices).
