The Child Care Center Management Certificate Program consists of coursework in leadership and administrative skills, educational programming, and financial issues associated with managing a quality child care program. This certificate program provides college-level instruction to prepare students for the managerial and administrative aspects of child care facilities. Courses from this certificate may be applied toward the Preschool Certificate, and the AS in Early Childhood Education and Management degree program.
This program includes coursework toward the completion of the state-approved Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) with the completion of CHD 1380 Facilitating Development, CHD 2320 Early Childhood Curriculum, and CHD 2220 Child Growth and Development. To earn the FCCPC, students also complete CHD 1440 Early Learning Practicum. The approved course for the foundation of the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Director’s Credential is CHD 2801 Overview of Child Care Management. After completing this course, students must submit an application to DCF and meet additional requirements to earn the DCF Director Credential. Students who obtain the DCF Director Credential are eligible to apply for director positions at child care facilities, or function as the directors of their own child care facilities.
