The Child Development Early Intervention Certification Program offers a sequence of courses with coherent and rigorous content this is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant information needed to prepare for further education and job opportunities in the Education and Training career cluster. It also provides technical-skill proficiency and competency-based applications that contribute to the academic, higher-order reasoning, problem-solving, technical, and ooccupation-specific skills necessary for related education careers, increasing the general employability of the individual.
The content includes, but is not limited to: child development; early childhood education; the establishment and maintainance of a safe, clean, healthy learning environment; guidance techniques and classroom management; professional communication; identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect; implementation of rules and regulations; nutrition; family interaction; legal and professional responsibilities; and employability skills. The program prepares the individual to assume major care-giving, education, and maintenance responsibilities within a home or center-based program under the supervision of a lead teacher or supervisor.
