Communication: Official Communication with Students

Polk State College assigns all credit students a Polk State College student email account during the admission process. College faculty and support staff members send official communications to students through the assigned institutional e-mail account. Students must check this email account frequently in order to ensure they obtain critical information and assignments. Note that faculty may also interact with students through the Learning Management System email address.  Students are responsible for reading all information sent to their Polk State College student email accounts from the College. The College reserves the right to communicate student information to the student’s personal email address on record.  The student is responsible to ensure the privacy and security of that email address with a password known only to the student.

Students may receive automated messages from the College concerning their schedules, due dates, financial aid disbursements and other critical issues.  Students make a selection upon application to use this service. Students who do not want to receive messages by phone may contact the Admission and Registrar’s office to change their options.

An emergency alert system will text and call a student’s phone listed on the student record.  Students who receive an alert must carefully read the information and respond accordingly.  It is critical for students to keep phone numbers up-to-date on their student records.  PASSPORT has an option to update contact and address information.
