Prerequisites: Permission of the Program Director
This course provides a foundation of some of the interpersonal skills required of officers as well as theories of human behavior. Specific groups the officer will likely encounter such as youthful offenders, mentally and /or physically challenged, and substance abusers are discussed. An exploration of crisis intervention techniques and suicide prevention is conducted. Stress recognition and reduction relating to the officer and the organization are covered in -depth.
