NUR 1033C - Transition I

Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing Program
Corequisites: MCB 2010C and DEP 2004 (if not previously completed)
This course introduces the experienced healthcare worker to the functional and professional roles of the Registered Nurse. The curriculum includes a study of the nursing process, assessment of basic needs, and analysis of unmet needs that occur in response to imbalances in homeostasis affecting the biological systems and human dimensions. The clinical focus emphasizes the nurse-patient relationship and mastery of the skills necessary for the care of adult clients with simple medical/surgical problems in the acute care setting. Clinical hours will be a combination of on-campus activities and off-site clinical experiences.
