OST 2461 - Medical Office Procedures and Management 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisites: Placement at the college level or completion of required college preparatory courses in reading and writing courses This course provides the medical office manager/assistant with the skills necessary to set up and/or maintain a medical office. These skills include, but are not limited to, managing space; ordering inventory, equipment, and supplies; selecting and assigning staff and job descriptions; producing employee agreements; managing payroll; and using negotiation and compliance with contracts with healthcare entities, patients, accounts management, insurance billing, insurance appeals, and collections; and applying the basic rules of ICD-9-CM and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding.
