This course explores variation in student learners and allows the teacher candidate to apply research-based instructional practices for differentiating processes, products, and contexts for reading instruction. The critical role of assessment within the reading-acquisition process is examined in relation to how it informs instructional methods and strategies used to develop literacy in varied populations requiring intervention. In addition to class meetings, field studies in a classroom setting are required. This is a Florida (2010) ESOL Endorsement-infused class that also satisfies competencies for the Florida Reading Endorsement.
