This course provides an introduction to criminal justice system components, as well as the values and ethos necessary for a correctional officer. Constitutional rights, inmate rights, and correctional legal issues are included. Emphasis is given to aspects of the legal application of force, and civil and criminal liabilities. Objectives include those established by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
