Non-Degree-Seeking Students
A non-degree-seeking student is generally not intending to complete a degree at Polk State College and may be taking prerequisites for a degree at another institution. This student may attend the College for a variety of additional reasons, such as to enhance a job skill or for personal enrichment.
A non-degree-seeking student must first complete an application for admission online. He or she is required to submit official transcripts from previously attended institutions the same as a degree-seeking student. The individual is also required to take a college placement test if it is a requirement for a course of interest. A non-degree-seeking individual does not qualify for exemption from placement testing and Developmental Education requirements. The student must demonstrate that all prerequisites to a course have been met before registration is permitted.
In addition, the non-degree-seeking student must submit residency documentation to gain in-state tuition.
