HIM 2721 - CPT CODING 4 hours Lecture, 4 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisite(s): Completion of HIM 2724 with a grade of C or above AA Elective: No This course provides a detailed approach to accurate usage of physicians’ current procedural terminology (CPT) for coding in an outpatient setting. Students apply the skills acquired in ICD-10 Coding (HIM 2724C). This course prepares students to work with reimbursement methodologies, and issues such as ambulatory payment classifications (APC) and resource-based relative value scales (RBRVS). Patient privacy and confidentiality are emphasized, as well as the proper handling of protected health information (PHI).
