AVM 4411 - Airport Operations 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Upper-Division College Credit AA Elective: No This course provides a survey of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, and the rules and regulations governing airport operations. Additionally, air traffic control, airfield, terminal, and ground access facility infrastructure in commercial and general aviation airports are studied in conjunction with airport security policies. Students explore and discuss maintenance and construction issues, safety management systems, and emergency preparedness.This course exposes students to real-world operations through both simulated and actual flight activities. Students work as a crew under the supervision of an instructor to practice, apply, and perform effective Crew Resource Management (CRM) systems within a scenario-based environment. Complex airspace, airport, and aircraft situations are used to the maximum extent possible to encourage the student to broaden his or her understanding of the flight environment.
