ASL 1140 - American Sign Language I 4 hours Lecture, 4 credits Lower-Division College Credit AA Elective: Yes This course emphasizes basic sign vocabulary used by the Deaf community and discusses the history and culture of deafness in America. Students study the linguistic structure and visual-conceptual nature of American Sign Language. The development of basic-expressive and receptive conversational Sign Language skills is an important class objective.
