Program: U5330

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Supervision and Management Program provides individuals who have an associate’s degree or the equivalent the opportunity to further their education and advance in their chosen professions. Students build upon the foundational skills attained through their associate degree programs by completing upper-division coursework in management and leadership practices. Upper-level coursework in the BAS Program provides students with the opportunity to engage in a concentrated area of study and develop a theoretical and practical understanding of organizational management.

The Healthcare Administration concentration of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management degree program prepares students to enter the workforce as medical and health services managers. In these professions, graduates are responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the delivery of healthcare. As healthcare administrators, they may be specialists managing specific clinical departments, or generalists managing a facility or system. Their work as managers involves a complex array of factors impacting today’s healthcare environment including technology, regulations, accreditation, innovation in treatment and delivery, system finance aspects, and insurance reimbursement.

Admission Criteria

Admission to this program requires an AS or AA degree (or the equivalent) from a regionally accredited school or college, and at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 point scale. Students must meet the requirements for college-level mathematics, reading, and writing. Any deficiencies must be satisfied prior to admission to the bachelor’s degree program. Students with an AAS degree are qualified for admission to the bachelor’s degree program once they have met the above-mentioned requirements. Any deficiencies in General Education requirements must be satisfied prior to graduation with a bachelor’s degree. If the student’s associate’s degree is from a non-regionally accredited institution, but one that is accredited by a body that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, a course-by-course evaluation is done according to Polk State College’s transfer practices and policies.

Students selecting the Healthcare Administration concentration must have either AS degree in a health science discipline, or must have completed the following courses:
