The Network Systems Technology (Network Infrastructure Design Specialization) degree program prepares students for careers as network administrators, network engineers, and network specialists. This program provides a study of the skills necessary to plan, design, implement, and administer Local and Wide area Network environments including storage processes required for a classic, virtualized, and cloud-based data centers. Courses within the program prepare students for industry certification exams offered by Cisco (CCENT, CCNA, and CCNP), CompTIA (A+), and EMC (EMCPA in storage and cloud infrastructure). As an active member of the networking community, Polk State College is an authorized Cisco Networking Academy, Microsoft IT Academy, CompTIA Authorized Academy, VMware IT Academy, and a member of the EMC Academic Alliance. The program’s specialization courses build on the skills obtained in the core study to provide the higher level of expertise that is required for design and maintenance activities at a design level in enterprise network infrastructures.

Certain courses in this program require placement at the college level or satisfaction of developmental education requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics.
