Program: AS-25320
The Early Childhood Education and Management Program provides a study of classroom skills and practical experiences for teachers of young children. The curriculum emphasizes an application of the skills necessary to meet the emotional, creative, social, cognitive, and physical needs of children in the infant, toddler, and preschool arena. A graduate of this program can seek employment as a manager, director, coordinator, or teacher in a home-based, faith-based, private, or public child development center, as well as in a preschool or other program for young children. This program also includes courses for the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Director Credential, and the Florida Director Credential.
Certain courses in this program require placement at the college level or satisfaction of developmental education requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate is able to:
PLO1: Explain developmental tasks relative to the various stages of development of young children.
PLO2: Plan a developmentally and culturally appropriate program curriculum that is inclusive of activities that facilitate principles and processes of child development to enhance the whole child.
PLO3: Use appropriate guidance and classroom management techniques.
PLO4: Create a system of on-going observation, assessment, and documentation.
PLO5: Design a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment while supporting state and local regulations and accreditation standards to maintain a quality program.
PLO6: Build ongoing communication and alliances with staff, families, programs, and other community resources.
PLO7: Describe major components of a sound business management plan.
PLO8: Execute a commitment to professional and ethical standards by demonstrating leadership and organizational skills, as well as focusing on effective written and oral communication.
PLO9: Assemble appropriate observation techniques with regards to special needs criteria through observation, assessment, and documentation.
