The Law Enforcement Officer Crossover to Florida Correctional Basic Recruit Training Certificate Program provides a curriculum of study for an individual who is currently certified as law enforcement officer in the State of Florida, but who wants to obtain job-related training for entry-level corrections. The curriculum is prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission in accordance with Florida Statutes. This program requires the entrant to be physically and mentally strong, fair-minded, and constantly alert. 

Upon completion of the program, the individual must pass the Florida State Officer Certification Exam before becoming eligible for employment. This certification is required for employment as a corrections officer in a local, county, or state law enforcement agency. 

Each program candidate must submit an application to the Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety Office for consideration.
