Program: 68120
The Software Developer Applications Certificate prepares the individual for initial employment as a software developer or for a career within specialized computer occupations. Additionally, it provides supplemental training for those previously or currently employed in these occupations. This certificate program contains the core curriculum of the Associate in Science (AS) in Computer Systems and Business Analysis degree program. Credits earned toward this certificate can also be applied to the AS degree.
This certificate program’s sequence of courses provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards; it includes the relevant technical knowledge and skills that are needed to prepare for further education or a career in the Information Technology career cluster, The content includes analyzing business situations to design, develop, and write computer programs; store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information; assess problems using logic and analysis tools; code into computer language; and test, monitor, debug, document, and maintain computer programs. Additionally, the individual explores ways to innovate the use of smart-connected devices, as well as design mechanical parts, produce physical models, add inexpensive sensors, put together monitoring and control applications with widely used programming languages, and communicate with these devices over cloud services.
The Lakeland Campus Technology Lab (LTB 1305) provides a dedicated space for all computer-related courses and provides the latest software for students to practice activities without network barriers.
