Accounting Technology, AS

Program: AS-25020

The purpose of this program is to prepare the graduate for a career in government, non-profit, or public accounting, or within the private accounting industry. The program is also of value to the small business owner.

Certain courses in this program require placement at the college level or satisfaction of developmental education requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is able to:
PLO 1:  Prepare and use financial information about business organizations to support decision making.
PLO 2:  Manage business information using appropriate software.
PLO 3:  Demonstrate effective business communication skills.
PLO 4:  Evaluate business and financial information to support internal decision making.
PLO 5:  Participate in work-based learning experiences.
PLO 6:  Prepare governmental tax forms, including for income, payroll, and sales taxes.
PLO 7:  Consider the implications of professional values, ethics, and attitudes in business.
PLO 8:  Prepare and develop strategic or organizational skills.
PLO 9:  Prepare individual tax forms.

Civic Literacy Competency


Pursuant to Rule 6A-10.02413 of the Florida Administrative Code, effective Fall 2022 competency in civic literacy is a requirement for all students receiving an Associate in Science degree. Competency in civic literacy must be demonstrated in the following ways:

AND Florida Civic Literacy Examination (Score of 60% or better)

 

  • Or completing one of the following assessments with the score indicated:
    • AP Government and Politics: United States (Score of 3 or better)
    • AP United States History (Score of 4 or better)
    • CLEP: American Government (Score of 50 or better)
    • Florida Civic Literacy Examination (Score of 60% or better)
