PHT 1213C - Physical Therapy Principles and Procedures 3 hours Lecture, 4 hours Lab, 5 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisite(s): PHT 1250C, PHI 2010, and BSC 2086C Corequisite(s): PHT 1128C and PHT 2220C AA Elective: No This lecture and lab course introduces modalities commonly used in the field of physical therapy, as well as the physiological effects, indications, and contraindications for each modality. Therapies include, but are not limited to, heat, cold, ultrasound, electrotherapy, traction, intermittent compression, therapeutic massage, and diathermy. Treatment principles are introduced for wound types, burns, and other integumentary issues; the stages of healing, treatment processes, and dressing procedures; and care for and prevention of pressure ulcers. This course also covers patient interviewing, assessment, documentation, and billing processes. Successful completion of this course requires a grade of C or better.
