Network Systems Engineering Technology (Infrastructure Specialization), AS

Program: AS-25271


The Associate in Science in Network Systems Engineering Technology (NSET) degree program with specialization in Infrastructure (AS-25271) prepares students for careers in designing, building, and maintaining network infrastructures. The program uses a combination of hands-on activities and state-of-the-art simulators to provide training across a wide range of skills valued by the Information Technology (IT) industry. Students with different levels of experience work together to create a learning environment conducive to mastering the latest networking technologies. Courses within the program prepare students for industry certification exams across a broad range of disciplines from CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, and Palo Alto.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is able to:
PLO 1: Apply design principles and concepts in computing and networking environments.
PLO 2: Demonstrate router and switching configuration skills.
PLO 3: Design, configure, deploy, and manage the Microsoft Server Operating System and Active Directory infrastructure.
PLO 4: Design a firewall for network security.
PLO 5: Demonstrate account-management principles, use role-based access control, and implement Azure Policy for compliance and trust.
PLO 6: Assess and apply basic project management concepts and management tools.
PLO 7: Install, configure, and manage virtualization platforms using applicable concepts.
PLO 8: Demonstrate proper installation of the Microsoft Desktop Operating System.
PLO 9: Demonstrate proper installation of the Linux Desktop Operating System.
PLO 10: Demonstrate proficiency in securing network infrastructures and protecting data.

Civic Literacy Competency


Pursuant to Rule 6A-10.02413 of the Florida Administrative Code, effective in the Fall 2022 Semester, competency in civic literacy is a requirement for all students receiving an Associate in Science degree. Competency in civic literacy must be demonstrated through one of the two options listed below:

Option 1:

   AND

  • Successful completion of the Florida Civic Literacy Examination with a score of 60% or better.

Option 2:

Completion of one of the following assessments with the score indicated:

  • The Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in Government and Politics: United States with a score of three or better.
  • The Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in United States History with a score of four or better.
  • The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) American Government Exam with a score of 50 or better.
  • The Florida Civic Literacy Examination with a score of 60% or better.
