Event-Planning Management Certificate

The Event-Planning Management Certificate trains the participant to become a supervisor in event-planning management, a growing sector of the Hospitality industry. The curriculum includes, but is not limited to, customer service, event planning, marketing, sales, guest services, communications, human relations, and security issues. Credits earned for the certificate can be applied toward the Associate in Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management degree program.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is able to:
PLO 1: Formulate and analyze hospitality industry marketing strategies including targeting, positioning, and assessing consumer behaviors.
PLO 2: Discuss the specialized needs for marketing within the hospitality industry.
PLO 3: Explain how effective communication skills are important to success as a hospitality supervisor and describe personal characteristics that affect communication skills.
PLO 4: Identify and use principles of legal and ethical supervision practices.
PLO 5: Demonstrate the leadership and managerial skills required within a service-oriented industry.
PLO 6: Identify risk and safety issues in the hospitality industry.
PLO 7: Demonstrate effective use of information technology skills.
PLO 8: Identify and demonstrate the interpersonal and communication skills relevant to the business environment.
PLO 9: Demonstrate the employability skills required of the hospitality industry.
PLO 10: Examine the principles of convention management and services.
