HIM 2211C - Health Information Systems and Data Management 3 hours Lecture, 2 credits Lower-Division College Credit Prerequisites: CGS 1100 and HIM 1800L AA Elective: No This course discusses computer systems in healthcare with emphasis on systems encountered by Health Information departments. Clinical data repositories, community health information networks, telemedicine, the evolvement/advancement of the computerized medical record, and the optical disc are discussed. Students create and maintain databases and apply alternative methods for formatting and presenting data. The course emphasizes the importance of data integrity and its effects on healthcare organizations.
